Summary

This session will introduce Appreciative Inquiry and Positive Psychology and will examine the similarities and differences between them. It will also consider ways that an understanding of Positive Psychology supports Appreciative Inquiry practice.


The session will be interactive: it will include 2 short exercises and there will be an ongoing discussion of the material presented.


By the end of the session delegates should:
Understand the basics of Appreciative Inquiry and Positive Psychology
Understand the relationship between them
Have considered how knowledge of Positive Psychology can enhance Appreciative Psychology Practice.

 

Biography

Sarah is a consultant and a facilitator, and all her work is informed by a social constructionist view of organisations. She has particular expertise in approaches related to this perspective, for instance appreciative inquiry, systemic consultation and large group participation events. She increasingly brings an appreciation of positive psychology to her work.
Sarah is a chartered psychologist, an Associated Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a Principal member of the Association of Business Psychologists. She also has a certificate of systemic management and is accredited to use psychometric assessment. She is a regular conference presenter in the UK and is a published author.
